Virgin Australia was established in 2000, co-founded by Sir Richard Branson and former Virgin Blue CEP Brett Godfrey. At the time of the airline’s launch Virgin Australia had two aircraft and flew only one single route. Today the airline has a fleet of 95, the largest fleet within the Virgin Group.

In addition to its impressive fleet, Virgin Australia operates flights to 50 destinations, making it the second largest airline in Australia. Within its flying network, Virgin Australia serves 29 domestic cities and 21 international cities. The airline’s main hubs are located at Brisbane and Sydney Airports.

Collectively Air Canada has a fleet of 204 aircraft and flies to a total of 81 international destinations spanning 33 countries. From Australia the airline flies nonstop from Sydney to Vancouver, and also departs Melbourne with a stopover in Sydney.

When flying internationally with Virgin Australia, you can choose from Economy, Premium Economy or Business Class, as well as opt to join the Velocity program where members can earn points with Virgin Australia and their affiliated partners. Membership levels are tiered and offer various benefits including priority check-in and Virgin Australia lounge access.

When flying internationally with Virgin Australia, you can check-in from 2.5 hours up until 30 minutes before the departure time. Premium Economy and Business passengers are also provided with dedicated check-in counters.
