Tahiti is blessed with over 100 idyllic islands, many with no inhabitants at all. From the big island of Tahiti to smaller but equally famous atolls such as Bora Bora and Moorea, there is a great deal to see and do in these gorgeously secluded South Pacific islands.
The island of Tahiti is home to the capital city, Papeete. With a population of over 100, 000 people, the city offers lovely parks and botanical gardens as well as many cultural delights. A whole day can be spent enjoying all that this quiet but intriguing city has to offer. A drive through the lush, uninhabited interior reveals dense forests filled with cascading waterfalls and inviting natural pools while the coastline features beautiful black sand beaches. One must see is the Arahoho blow hole.
Most islands include exciting activities such as boating tours, sunset cruises and four-wheel drive excursions through the nature filled island interior. Of course, in Tahiti there is always an array of beach activities too, from parasailing to snorkelling. Some islands even offer helicopter tours for the ultimate picture perfect view.
