Cruising from Vilshofen to Budapest, we explored four countries – Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary – with every port offering a new layer of European history and charm. From the storybook villages of Austria and the baroque beauty of Vienna to the fairytale skyline of Budapest, this itinerary really is the perfect blend of cultural icons and hidden gems.
A real standout was the full-day excursion to Český Krumlov. The day began with a guided tour through Linz’s charming old town, followed by a scenic drive to Český Krumlov, where we explored its winding laneways and majestic castle, with ample free time to relax over lunch in the heart of this enchanting medieval town.
In Bratislava, we wandered cobbled streets once walked by Hungarian royalty, while Vienna dazzled with its imperial grandeur – St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Schönbrunn Palace and the elegant Ringstrasse left a lasting impression. One of my favourite moments was a peaceful bike ride along the Danube from Krems, taking in the crisp air and sweeping vineyard views of the Wachau Valley.
