Gift Card Terms and Conditions

Gift Card Terms of Use for Flight Centre (NZ) Limited 

These terms apply to all gift cards and electronic vouchers issued by or on behalf of Flight Centre (NZ) Limited (“FCTG”, “Flight Centre”) or “Travel Associates” (each a “Gift Card”). By purchasing, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, you agree to the following terms:

1. Gift Cards can be redeemed at all Flight Centre and Travel Associates company owned stores located within New Zealand and online at www.flightcentre.co.nz for flight only bookings, or flights combined with travel insurance bookings. 

    

2. Gift Cards are valid for use within 3 years from the date of sale and are available for use twenty-four (24) hours after purchase. Multiple Gift Cards may be redeemed per flight only booking, or for a flight combined with travel insurance booking, excluding currency or any cash equivalent products) made online at www.flightcentre.co.nz or at any Flight Centre or Travel Associates store located within New Zealand.

    

3. Gift Cards will be issued with a PIN number. In order for a Gift Card to be redeemed, the customer must provide the associated unique PIN number at time of redemption. If a PIN number cannot be provided, the Gift Card will not be able to be redeemed.  

    

4. Gift Cards may only be applied up to the maximum value loaded onto the Gift Card which is unspent at the time of use. Where the cost of purchase exceeds the available balance of the Gift Card, the excess amount must be paid by another payment method. Booking fees may apply and vary depending on where the booking is made (e.g., online at www.flightcentre.co.nz or in-store). If a Gift Card is used for payment, applicable booking fees will apply.

    

5. Subject to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act, Gift Cards are non-refundable.  If a refund is necessary in connection with a booking made using a Gift Card (for instance, where refunds may be required in accordance with FCTG’s standard booking terms and conditions or Travel Associates’ standard booking terms and conditions) funds will refunded to the same method of payment used to purchase the booking. 

    

6. Gift Cards may be redeemed in whole or part during the validity period. Where used in part, no change will be given. Any unused balance may be used against future purchases but will not be refunded or credited when the Gift Card expires.

    

7. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded.

    

8. Gift Cards may not be redeemed or exchanged for cash, Gift Cards, cash passports, currency or any other cash equivalent product.

    

9. Gift Cards may not, without the prior written consent of FCTG or Travel Associates, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via online auction or other unauthorised resale sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services. If a Gift Card is sold or used in breach of this condition, FCTG or Travel Associates may in its absolute and sole discretion cancel or render invalid the Gift Card without a refund and the Gift Cardholder may be refused redemption of the Gift Card. FCTG or Travel Associates will take all reasonable steps to notify you of FCTG’s or Travel Associates’ intention to cancel or render invalid a Gift Card within a reasonable time before cancelling or rendering invalid the Gift Card. 

    

10. FCTG or Travel Associates may cancel or render invalid any Gift Card (including any available balance) which FCTG or Travel Associates determines in its absolute and sole discretion was purchased at any time and in any way (including via online auction or other unauthorised resale sites) by fraudulent means. FCTG or Travel Associates may cancel any bookings made using any fraudulent Gift Card which may include any non-refundable amounts. FCTG or Travel Associates will not be responsible for any costs incurred by you if you purchase or attempt to redeem any fraudulent Gift Card. You acknowledge and agree that you will not be entitled to redeem any available balance on any fraudulent Gift Card and that FCTG or Travel Associates will not be obliged to hold such balance on file for you or otherwise redeem or exchange that Gift Card. 

     

11. You are responsible for the use and security of your Gift Card and PIN number. Lost or stolen Gift Cards may not be replaced or refunded. Lost or stolen PIN numbers cannot be reissued or replaced. You are liable for all transactions on your Gift Card except those caused by fraud or negligence by FCTG, Travel Associates or its employees.

     

12. Defaced, mutilated or altered Gift Cards may not be accepted, replaced or refunded. 

     

13. Gift Cards may not be used for payment of credit or retailer accounts.

     

14. Gift Cards may be purchased up to a maximum total value of $4,999 within any 90-day period. For B2B customers, the customer warrants that all Gift Cards purchased are for different recipients and that no individual recipient will receive multiple Gift Cards exceeding $4,999 in total within any 90-day period. The customer acknowledges that providing duplicate or misleading recipient details may constitute non-compliance with applicable laws, for which the customer accepts full liability. 

     

15. Personal information collected in relation to your Gift Card will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policies which are available at https://help.flightcentre.co.nz/s/article/privacy-policy-nz and www.travel-associates.co.nz/privacy-policy  

     

16. The laws of New Zealand apply to these terms and conditions and any disputes arising in relation to them.

Complaints about purchases made using a Gift Card should be resolved directly with the store concerned.
